Spending Quality Time With Your Kids On Mother’s Day

With Mother’s Day approaching, children and fathers have a wonderful opportunity to show mom how much she means to the family. This can sometimes be a little stressful for dads as kids come to them looking for ideas of special things to do for mom. But this doesn’t have to be stressful.

You really can’t go wrong by making breakfast for mom on Mother’s Day. Just be sure to help the younger kids and supervise any use of the stove.

Try to let mom sleep in on her special day. Chances are, she could use a bit of extra rest. A tea party is always fun for families with little girls. You could even make it a theme party and visit stores like Hip Hop to find matching outfits.

A dance recital would be lots of fun for the kids, and mom will love it as well. Be sure to capture this on film for mom to enjoy later!

You could do both the tea party and the dance, and wear the poodle skirts for both! Another great idea, my own personal favorite, is to clean the house for mom on Mother’s Day. What a great way to feel appreciated waking up to a nice clean house without having to do the work for a change!

There are also lots of crafts that the children can do with mom. This creates a fun activity, and the resulting craft can be mom’s gift. This can make a great family tradition, and the craft activities can progress in difficulty from year to year.

You could also plant flowers, or even a tree, for mom. These are living creatures that mom will enjoy for years to come. A heartfelt letter is another great idea.

Dads can help younger children with the writing and with many other ideas. Have them draw a special picture if they are too young to write. What could be more special for a mom on Mother’s Day?

Some Bedding Suggestions For Your Puppy

It’s a great responsibility to own a pet, just as it is to raise a child. Dogs can require even more responsibility than other pets. They can be unruly if you don’t take steps to make sure they’re happy, and they can easily become a pain if they’re not comfortable and getting enough rest.

To combat this problem, you’ll probably want to keep your dog happy by making him as comfortable as possible. You can make this an easier task by investing in a dog bed cover. Following are a few things to consider when purchasing a dog bed cover.

There are many different kinds of pet bedding, and they vary in sizes and features as well as overall design. It’s important to select the right bed for your dog since a bed that’s comfortable for one puppy might not be so nice for another. Make sure to select a bed of appropriate size for your dog; a bed that’s too small will be uncomfortable.

Consider the future environment of the bed when you’re choosing one. Will the dog be using it inside our outside? If your dog loves to be outside, you’ll want a bed that can be used both indoors and out. They make such beds and you can find them in most pet stores pretty easily, and for decent prices nonetheless.

It’s also important to consider the material from which the bedding is made. Canvas is a very popular choice of fabric for pet beds.

This material is popular since it’s both soft and durable. It will provide comfort to your dog and will last for awhile, even with an active dog. It’s naturally important that anything you’re getting for your pet can withstand the normal wear and tear that it might experience with any animal.

Denim is a popular choice of material for bedding as well. Pet beds are made out of a variety of materials these days, including latex. These beds can be very comfortable and durable, and they’re all-natural as well.

It’s a good idea to go for pet beds that offer easy maintenance as time goes on. Selecting an easy-to-clean pet bed will mean that you can keep it fresh without spending too much time on it. And beds that can be easily maintained will likely last longer as well. To find a bed with quick and easy maintenance, look for machine washable beds, as well as those with resistance to stains, dirt, and mildew.

Some Factors To Consider When Introducing Someone To The Family

Some friends of mine and I were at happy hour the other day, and the topic of dating came up. Well, a subtopic of dating. My friend Martin, who is in his mid-thirties, has a significant other he’s been dating for three months or so. He calls her Lady Friend, because he won’t call her his girlfriend yet.

Well, Lady Friend may not be on the same page as Martin, commitment-level wise. Martin won’t call her his girlfriend, and there she was inviting him home for Easter to meet her parents. This shocked him :’so soon!’ he exclaimed. But then we started talking and wondered, how soon is too soon, and how do you know when it is ok to invite the partner home?

Martin’s take is that three months is not long enough. Our friend Jane agrees with him. Jane is even more conservative with bringing home dates than Martin is. If you want to meet her parents, Jane tells us, you can figure on dating her at least a year before you get that invitation.

My story was a bit stickier, and I hesitated before offering it. My boyfriend invited me to meet his parents early in the relationship. Really early. Like, five weeks into the relationship early. My friends were shocked, and asked ‘what did you do?’

‘Well, I went,’ I said. And it didn’t do any damage to the relationship either, we are still together and happy nearly a year later. But, I was more cautious than he and waited for several more months to invite him to meet my parents. For me, five weeks was too soon.

When it comes down to it, only you can determine when is too soon to invite your partner to meet your parents. Weigh the pros and cons and then take a chance. The problem with a too-early invitation is it can feel surprising and pushy. If your partner feels pressured, or rushed, this is not a good thing for the relationship.

Weigh that against the fact that it could be a good test for determining whether or not your partner is serious about you and the relationship. Do you want to wait for months and months, until you are very serious yourself, before you find this out? Probably not.

Martin? Well, Martin decided to stay home with his own family, and had a lovely Easter. He’ll visit Lady Friend’s parents after a few more months have passed.

Wedding Gift Ideas

The occasion of a wedding is a very special day for everyone. Just being invited to one can bring about real exhilaration. It is always a pleasure to see someone walk down the aisle with the hope of true love and life long joy. choosing a wedding present can be a lot of fun too. There are thousands of gifts that you can buy online or in retail stores.

Personalized gifts is a common trend in weddings presents. Bespoke gifts bring out your creativity because you can determine the style, design and message you want to be printed on them. Products range from photo frames, mugs and clocks, among many others.

When buying presents, always keep in mind your budget but be sure to get the look you want on the goods you buy. Here are some gift ideas that would definitely be a hit:

Tapestry – It is lovely to commemorate the wedding day, but how best to do this? Personalize everyday belongings by printing the couple’s portrait on them. You can have it printed on pillows, blankets or bags.

Have them printed on a tapestry wall hanging and they can be kept as heirlooms. Different coloured cotton threads can make your pictures come to life just like the photo itself.

Photo Frames – Keep your best pictures in unique photo frames. You can add romantic messages like ‘lovers forever” or “ideal couple”. Romantic lines from songs or poems are recommended too. You can pick from the various frames available like natural wood, quality resin, or metal steel.

Private messages are mostly engraved by laser or cut out of wood. The couple would love putting there favorite wedding photos in such frames to remind them of the happiness of their special day.

T-shirts – Show your own personality and thoughts by having them printed on comfortable tees. Many couples would love to demonstrate their love for each other on cute shirts. The most common of the slogans on these shirts is the letter “I” followed by a big red heart and then name of the groom or bride.

You could tell the world how you feel towards a person with such a personalized tee. If you want to be more intimate, you could even print romantic messages on lingerie or underwear.

Accessories – Women love accessories. Bracelets are ideal items for personalization. You could choose sterling silver or even 9 carat – 22 carat gold. This depends on your budget, of course. But remember, it is the thought that counts.

Common themes that are put on bracelets are the date of your wedding or your anniversary or the couple’s name. You can personalize rings and necklaces in the same way too.

Tankards – Tankards are very handy. If you are giving a gift to the groom, customizing his beer mug or wine glass would surely be appreciated. Choose a beer mug that is not embarrassing. Pewter or glass look nice and the personal message would stand out clearly.

Clocks – You could buy a wall clock or personal watches. Either way, you can be assured that the recipient would find them very useful. Engraving one’s name on a metal steel sports watch is an eye catcher too. A pocket watch would be equally valued.

Looking for wedding gifts can be very enjoyable. Personalizing your gifts would add a special touch to each present. No matter the value of the gift, remember that it is always the thought that matters most.

Creating A Home Theater

Shoppers in this new millennium are much more knowledgeable about electronic goods than people were at any time earlier. The older generation of today grew up in the 1960’s and 1970’s when everyone in the West had a television set and a stereo. Previous generations were not so fortunate for financial and technological reasons. Therefore, most shoppers nowadays have no compunctions about going shopping for complex electronic equipment like a home theater.

It is in the shoppers’ best interest to research and comprehend about the components that go into making up a good home theater. It is not particularly exacting and many if not all of the components involved have been around for at least a few years now. Consider what goes into a home theater:

a screen – can be a television screen, a canvas screen for a projector or a modern plasma or LCD screen. Forget about the modern varieties of screen, they are still fundamentally TV screens and they have been around for 80 years or so. Same with a projector.

a player – a DVD player is just an improved CD player and they have been out for 20-30 years. You have probably had one for most of that time. (You can add another dimension to your home theater here by swapping an Xbox for the DVD player, but games machines are not new).

speakers – they are nothing new either. Speakers have been about as long as the television set.

So you see, there is nothing in that package which you should feel awkward about buying. Fair enough, you will be buying state of the art examples of what I listed above, but they are fundamentally the same. You attach them all together with their special plugs and wires and then plug them into the mains. Switch on and it will work.

So the next question is: do you purchase a package or do you buy the elements and build your own home theater? The answer to that question really depends on your level of competency. A package is easy and may work out cheaper too, but will it have the flexibility that you want? If you have a standard sized and standard shaped room, then I am sure that you will be able to buy a package that will suit you. If you think that the speakers are sub-standard, you could always sell them on and upgrade after a period.

if you want to be sure of getting precisely what you want, I think that most people will have to buy the components separately: that is screen, player and speakers.

The size of the screen depends on the size of the room and how close you are sitting to it: a distance of between three times and five times the diagonal of the screen is about right. However, some people like to be dominated by the screen and others do not want to wear their glasses, so it is up to personal preference.

The DVD player is a matter of individual preference too. They are all much of a muchness, but some people favour Sanyo while others favour Philips. If you want gaming capability too, use an Xbox instead of an regular DVD player.

Most rooms will require at least a 5.1 surround sound speaker set. These should be acquired as one package to make certain that they are all compatible. That is five normal speakers and a sub-woofer.

Security Measures In Place That Make Online Shopping Safe

In the late 1990s, the internet experienced a sudden boom across all its frontiers, including online shopping. With the sudden increase in the numbers of products and services being bought online came increased concerns about the safety of these transactions. The media was fraught with precautionary tales about people who had seen their bank accounts wiped out and credit cards maxed by online thieves.

Stories like this still happen today, but overall the internet is a more secure place to shop now than ever before. Here are some things that have made the internet more secure since its early days as well as a few tips for making safe online purchases.

Encryption methods have improved; they’re much harder to crack than they were in the early days. If you’re visiting a website and it has a security certificate, you can rest assured that any information you use on the site will be safe.

Still, it’s not impossible for hackers to obtain financial information, but it happens far less often than you might think.

There are fewer sites today than there were when online shopping was just starting to boom. The bursting of the internet bubble caused many fraudulent sites to simply disappear. These deceptive websites still exist, but they’re generally identified quite easily.

If you have experience with online shopping and using the internet in general, you’ll be able to tell the difference between a legitimate site and a fraudulent one. If you’d prefer, you can just stick to the big websites such as eBay and Amazon, which have a reputation to protect. You can also use services like PayPal to take your security one step further.

There are more anti-fraud measures in place. These measures can be as simple as requiring registration before purchasing an item, but they help weed out thieves and scammers.

So breathe easy knowing that making purchases online really isn’t anything to be worried about. Simply use some common sense, examine online vendors before purchasing from them, and watch the check out process closely and you’ll be able to keep yourself from being a fraud victim.

Pamper Yourself To Reduce Your Stress

Stress is the number one killer in the West, although it seldom is seen on death certificates. Stress causes other diseases like high blood pressure, anxiety, panic attacks and headaches to mention but a few. Stress can also be debilitating, because when some people are stressed about getting something correct, they begin to panic, and have less chance of doing that job well.

Stress, then, can lead to anxiety, panic attacks, heart disease and an early death. Funnily enough though, some people can use stress to enhance their performance. Here I am talking about actors and top business people, for example. These are people who have learned how to channel stress into a helpful force.

But how do they do that? That is not easy to say, because what works for one individual does not work for others. Means that some people use are exercise in a gymnasium and active sport such as golf and swimming.

Other people use hot baths, showers, Jacuzzis, massage and saunas. Some people combine both techniques. Say, a workout followed by a sauna or a massage. However, if you cannot stretch to that, a good tip is to get out of our workplace in your breaks. Fifteen minutes might not seem long, but use it to walk around areas on site where you do not usually go.

When you get longer time off, say in your lunch hour, then you could have a shower or even a massage for thirty minutes. Or a swim, especially if your company provides the amenities.

If this is not feasible, then a massage or two a week is a good idea. Some of the best massage techniques are Shiatsu and Thai massage. Thai massage is more aggressive than Shiatsu and takes some getting used to, but you can always tell the masseur to tone it down a bit in the first few weeks until you can take the full Thai massage.

Another way of pampering yourself is the use of aromatherapy. You may think that aromatherapy is a new idea, but it ha been used in religion for thousands of years. In fact the modern church still uses aromas in order to create an atmosphere of tranquility and harmony.

There are many kinds of aromas that will induce different frames of mind. There are stimulants and tranquilizers to suit every occasion, but it does take experience or practice to find out what is perfect for you, because people are different.

Another way of taking care of yourself if to create a beautiful environment in which to spend your spare time. A garden is the first way of going about it and a patio or deck is a way of enhancing your enjoyment of your garden. Holidays are another way of pampering yourself in order to reduce stress, but what most people do not understand is that it is not necessary to go far or for a long time.

Try going thirty miles to a jazz festival and staying over night. In fact, that is a requirement, you must stay over night and let some one else cook your breakfast and clean the towels after your shower. I promise you, you will not regret it.

What Is The Lemon Race?

For a leader, the essential component of peak performance is in finding a mentor and being a mentor

A speaker spoke about Relationships in a conference I attended last year which made a big difference in my own life.

He said: “You can greatly influence your life’s flight path by Relationships, some of them are lifelong and some seasonal. The premium fuel to succeed in life is the result of working hard to enter and develop premium lifelong relationships. Find inspiring people by being intentional about it; If you want to reach the next level, the best thing to do is to find someone who is already there. Because of your association with these premium people your life will also improve.

The best way to look at Relationships – as a place where you can give and not just take; you have to look to add value to the lives of premium people and not just take from them.

Expect flaws in high level people. Quit looking for the perfect person to find as a mentor. High level people have idiosyncrasies and faults just like anyone else and, they will fail to meet your expectations. What makes high level people successful is because they succeeded in spite of their faults and not by absence of them. When you discover your hero has faults, be encouraged because you can also become a high level person even with your faults”

A mentor can be found in a growing upline who has a vested interest in your success. To build a lifelong relationship you must work hard to establish trust. Communicate with them regularly because the bed rock of any relationship is communication. Always leave more behind that you take because it adds value to your relationship.

Ask yourself these questions:

1. Do you have anyone as a mentor (or a trusted teacher)?

2. No?, why not? What has caused to stop you from establishing a relationship?

3. If so, are you in regular communication with your mentor and ask questions to find the answers? The answer is in every question.

4. Have you established a master mind alliance to find solutions to your problems?

5. Do you have an accountability relationship with your mentor?

6. Are you truly honest with your mentor or, just to get the answer you are looking for you twist or embellish your real situation ?

We hope and pray that you achieve all the goals you set in life. Life is like a lemon race, it is not just a marathon, where you don’t win if the lemon falls off the spoon. You will not be happy to win the race of life if you lose the lemons – Relationships, Health, Integrity, Family, Spiritual, Financial, Character, etc.

Tips For Maintaining Your Chimney

You’re a new homeowner, and you are basking in the thought of enjoying your new home. One feature you are really looking forward to is having fires in your new fireplace.

But that is not to be. You move in and the next day, so does a raccoon via your chimney! You call animal control and the critter is taken away. Whew! Now for a nice fire. Except smoke backs up and messes up your nice white walls.

Now you are starting to realize that caring for and using a fireplace is a little more involved than you realized! Here are some tips to help you better care for and maintain your chimney:

Start with a good chimney inspection by a professional. Have this done before it is the season for fireplace use if possible. Don’t try to be cheap and get up in your fireplace with a flashlight yourself. This won’t work, you have no idea what you are looking for.

Hire a chimney sweep. He or she will know what they are looking for, and will be able to recommend what repairs are needed if they do find a problem. You also will need regular cleanings, especially for chimneys that are used to vent wood-burning fireplaces.

Use the damper. Keep it closed when you don’t have a fire going, and open it before you light a fire. If you don’t use your damper, you lose a third of your heating and air conditioning money right out the chimney. That’s not an insignificant contribution to your utility bill!

If you don’t have a damper, have one put in. It will pay for itself with the money you’ll save on heating and cooling. Just don’t forget to open it before you light a fire!

A fireplace is a lovely feature in any home. If you take proper care of your chimney, and maintain the fireplace and chimney, you’ll enjoy your fireplace for years to come.

You want to pay attention to chimney maintenance for two reasons actually. The first is to make sure you can use and enjoy your fireplace. But the more important reason is to make sure that you don’t risk your home every time you make a fire.

Food Suggestions To Take On A Picnic

When the weather turns warm and the sun is shining, many people start thinking of going on a picnic. Having a picnic is a great way to enjoy nature and get outdoors. It doesn’t require any real specialized equipment either. If you have a blanket, and a cooler, you have what you need.

You don’t want to just toss whatever you find in your fridge into the cooler and call it a picnic, though. Picnics should be more than eating the same old food, only outside. Whether you are going to picnic at a park, in your yard, at the beach, or at an outdoor attraction, a little planning helps turn a picnic into a special and fun meal. Consider including the following as picnic fare:

Potato salad: Potato salad is a flavorful, creamy, enjoyable staple of picnics. Potato salad will usually keep for several hours in a cooler, so it is a good choice to pack. You can get sweet potato salads, mustard-based salads, salads with bits of pickle or olive in them; there’s a variety for nearly any taste. If you don’t have the time to make your own, often you can pick up potato salad at a deli or grocery.

Watermelon: Watermelon is a great choice for picnics. Most everyone loves watermelon, because it is sweet and refreshing. Kids especially tend to love a nice red slice of watermelon. There is very little cleanup required, also, because you hold the rind to eat it and don’t need utensils or even plates.

If you want to make it easier to serve the melon, you can always cut up the fruit before you leave home. Cut it into cubes and store in Tupperware, in the cooler. If you don’t want to take the time and trouble to cut it up, purchase pre-packed watermelon at the store.

Bread and cheese: Round out your picnic menu with some bread and cheese. It is a hearty, easy option that is delicious and easy. Simply go to the store and pick up a loaf of a sturdy, crusty bread like a baguette, and choose a type of cheese. Slice both bread and cheese at home and pack up for easy eating once you’re at your picnic location.

Deviled eggs: People tend to love deviled eggs in a variety of settings. Still, this finger food is a great choice for picnics. They are small, tasty, and easy to make.

Deviled eggs also bring a variety of textures and flavors to a picnic meal. They have a creamy base, but also include crunchy elements. This is pleasing to many people. Plus they can be eaten in just a few bites.
